Every payment through Paddlit gets a numbered receipt by email, in your organisation's name, with your logo and your own thank-you message. Once your nonprofit status is confirmed, receipts show your tax ID and work out the tax-deductible amount for you.

What's on a receipt
The email's subject is the receipt number and your organisation's name. Inside: a thank-you to the donor by first name, the event, the date, each item, any card fee they covered, the total, and how they paid ("Visa •••• 4242 (Apple Pay)", or "Cheque 1042"). Then the tax line, your thank-you message and who it's from.
Receipts are numbered for your organisation, starting at 1001. Your team can send one again with the same number.
The tax-deductible amount
Once your nonprofit status is confirmed, each receipt shows your EIN and the tax-deductible amount: what they paid, less the value of anything they received, plus any card fee they chose to cover.
When they got something back, such as dinner: "In return for your payment you received 2 × Dinner ticket valued at $130; the rest is a gift."
When they got nothing back: "No goods or services were provided in return for this gift."
The donation page and the ticket checkout show the tax-deductible amount before anyone pays.
Until your status is confirmed, receipts carry no tax wording at all, just a note to keep them for their records.
Confirming your nonprofit status
An owner enters your EIN, and Paddlit looks it up in the IRS's list of tax-exempt organisations. If the name there is a close match for yours and you confirm it's you, you're confirmed straight away. Anything else is checked by a person at Paddlit, and you're emailed the outcome. This works on every plan.
Once confirmed, an owner can also ask for the payment processor's lower card rate for nonprofits.
Your words
Owners write the thank-you message (up to 600 characters) and who it's signed by, and can see a sample receipt before any goes out.
Refunds
A refund sends its own email, saying the money usually reaches their account within 5 to 10 days.
In practice
How it plays out
Two dinner tickets
A guest buys two $150 dinner tickets, with dinner valued at $65 each, and covers the $9.27 card fee.
Their receipt shows $309.27 paid, says they received 2 × Dinner ticket valued at $130 and the rest is a gift, and gives $179.27 as tax-deductible, with your EIN.
A pledge paid by link
A guest pays their $100 pledge from a link after the event and covers the card fee.
Their receipt says no goods or services were provided, and gives the tax-deductible amount as $103.30: the pledge and the fee they covered.
